Romy Chavarria-Hernandez

Hi, my name is Romy Chavarria-Hernandez. I am a Mexican American female born and raised

in Denver, CO. I am a freshman at Regis University, and I am majoring in nursing. I am

incredibly grateful for my heritage, the values I have inherited and chosen to follow, and the

education I have received. As a future nurse, I want to help and educate all individuals,

especially those in underserved communities. I want to be part of helping improve healthcare

equality and educate others on preventing severe health problems, help save lives, provide

healthcare support, and contribute to the worldwide nursing shortage.

I highly believe that social justice includes equality for everyone, including access and the right

to healthcare. The ideals of social justice are important to me, and I want to be an advocate, a

woman for others, and make a difference. Through this project, I hope to continue to grow in my

faith and my values of serving the community by becoming a servant leader. I hope to make a

difference through my companionship and understanding of what it means to lend a helping hand

in Cobán. Through listening to my vocation, I only want to give myself to others and hope to

understand others for the content of their character rather than their skin color or cultural

heritage.
