Averie King

 

Hi! My name is Averie King and I am a senior nursing student. After graduation I hope to pursue a pediatric oncology nursing position. I grew up in Firestone Colorado and was inspired to follow my mom’s footsteps as she also graduated from Regis University with a nursing degree. 

During my junior and senior years of high school, I spent a lot of time in and out of Children’s hospital. Seeing how illness not only affects patients but their families, especially financially. Which strengthened my desire to care for and support children and their families in difficult times. This experience inspired me to give back by volunteering and supporting families I babysit for and the children I work with at a one room schoolhouse.  

I’m grateful for all the experiences that have shaped me, and I’m excited to keep growing as a student and eventually as a nurse continuing to find ways to make a positive impact on others.
